Core Description

A Technical Officer:  Verification Officer will conduct verification analysis, testing, inspection and repair and to dispense equipment at service stations and POS as set out in the customer SLA.

In essence, this role is the frontline expert responsible for the precise, safe, and reliable operation of fuel dispensing equipment, directly impacting customer trust, regulatory compliance, and revenue integrity.

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

  • Execute Calibration & Verification: Perform scheduled and ad-hoc calibration and verification of fuel dispensers and equipment to ensure strict compliance with legal metrology and accuracy standards.
  • Conduct Repairs & Diagnostics: Analyze equipment failures, perform effective repairs on dispensers and components, and restore equipment to full operational condition, minimizing site downtime.
  • Ensure Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety standards (HSE), conduct vehicle and tool audits, and identify site hazards to ensure a safe working environment and compliant operations.
  • Meet Service Level Agreement (SLA) Targets: Respond to and resolve all maintenance and repair calls within the required timeframes, ensuring 100% adherence to call closure procedures as defined by the SLA.
  • Manage Documentation & Reporting: Accurately complete and submit job cards, calibration certificates, and site review reports promptly, providing clear details on root cause and parts used.
  • Maintain Site Relationships & Brand Image: Develop and maintain positive customer relationships at sites, acting professionally to promote and uphold the company's brand reputation.
  • Perform Proactive Site Reviews: Conduct scheduled six-monthly site reviews and planned maintenance to identify potential issues before they cause failures or accuracy drifts.
  • Manage Inventory & Parts: Ensure the accuracy of van stock, correctly allocate used parts to specific job cards and sites, and maintain optimal stock levels to complete repairs efficiently.
  • Coordinate with Helpdesk & Management: Liaise continuously with the helpdesk to open, update, and close calls, and escalate critical, out-of-scope, or suspicious issues to management promptly.
  • Support Installations & Projects: Effectively install, commission, and configure new dispensers and peripheral equipment as per customer requirements and company projects.

Minimum Qualifications

OR NQF 4: Grade 12

Additional Education -Preferred /Advantage

Experience

2 years of experience in fuel pump metrology and oil industry standards

Certifications

Qualified Verification Officer – SANAS approved
Verification Officer Certificate – registered with NRCS
Detailed understanding of SANAS 10378:2005
Detailed understanding of Trade Metrology Act 77 of 1973
Health & Safety Training in accordance with OHSA
