Core Description
To ensure the stability, efficiency, and security of IT systems and operational infrastructure by managing system engineering tasks, monitoring performance, and supporting business-critical applications. The role bridges technical expertise with operational oversight, ensuring seamless service delivery. This is a Full-time role is based in the mines in Hotazel.
Key Deliverables / Primary Functions
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor system performance and availability, ensuring uptime and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, escalating where necessary.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Document workflows, procedures, and system configurations.
- Ensure compliance with ITIL/ISO standards and organizational policies.
- Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency.
- Work closely with operations, network, and application teams.
- Support project rollouts and system migrations.
- Provide input into strategic IT planning and infrastructure development.

- Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and enterprise applications.
- Manage virtualization platforms, cloud environments, and storage solutions.
- Implement system upgrades, patches, and security updates.
- High attention to detail and commitment to reliability
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced, mission‑critical environments
- Proficiency in Windows/Linux server administration.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls).
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).

Minimum Qualifications
NQF 6: 3 year Degree/ Diploma/ National Diploma in Computer Science or Engineering
OR NQF 4: Grade 12
Additional Education -Preferred /Advantage
Experience
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in enterprise network engineering.
- Knowledge of routing and switching (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, STP, VLANs, etc.).
- Strong experience with Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, or similar enterprise networking platforms.
- Proven experience with firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower).
- Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, PCNSE, or equivalent are preferred.
