Core Description

Enables BCX to explore, test, and validate new digital concepts through structured innovation practices, rapid experimentation, and collaborative solution development. 

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

  • Facilitate structured innovation processes including design thinking, problem discovery, ideation, concept development, value proposition design and solution sprint workshops.
  • Translate business challenges into clearly defined innovation opportunities with articulated hypotheses, success metrics, value assumptions and testable concepts.
  • Lead rapid prototyping using low and high fidelity methods to validate ideas, digital experiences and service concepts before investment or scale.
  • Run structured experiments and proof of value cycles to assess desirability, feasibility and viability, ensuring evidence based progression decisions.
  • Produce innovation artefacts including opportunity canvases, storyboard journeys, service blueprints, prototype mockups and pilot readiness assessments.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, product teams, digital engineering, enterprise architecture and data teams to transition validated concepts into delivery pipelines.
  • Build and manage an innovation pipeline aligned to strategic transformation, digital modernisation, employee experience improvement and platform enablement priorities.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation and creative problem solving across BTE and BCX, while documenting insights, learnings and recommendations to inform investment decisions and continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

Three-year degree (NQF 7) in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.

Additional Education -Preferred /Advantage

Experience

  • At least Five (5) years’ of experience in innovation facilitation, design thinking, prototyping, digital experience design, or related innovation roles.

Certifications

Agile certification is beneficial.
Product UX or innovation certifications are advantageous
Certification in Design Thinking or Service Design.
