Core Description

The Specialist in Infrastructure Monitoring is responsible for ensuring the continuous monitoring, management, and optimization of IT infrastructure within a dynamic, outsourced environment. This role is pivotal in maintaining the stability, performance, and availability of client systems by proactively identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact business operations. Additionally, the Specialist will oversee a team of monitoring professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to ensure a high standard of service delivery.

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

• Continuously monitor servers, networks, applications, and databases using industry-standard monitoring tools, further identify and respond to alerts, ensuring that issues are resolved promptly to minimize downtime keeping to SLA’s
• Triage and troubleshoot infrastructure incidents, escalating to the appropriate teams when necessary, provide detailed incident reports and conduct root cause analysis, coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve incidents and improve system reliability.
• Analyse monitoring data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement, collaborate with engineering teams to enhance infrastructure design and architecture.
• Evaluate and integrate new monitoring tools and technologies to improve efficiency and coverage.
• Supervise a team of infrastructure monitoring professionals, ensuring that they are well-trained and equipped to perform their roles effectively.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and create development plans for team members..
• Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, encouraging continuous learning and improvement.
• Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams, providing regular updates on infrastructure health and performance.
• Generate and present regular reports on infrastructure performance and monitoring effectiveness.

Additional Education -Preferred /Advantage

Experience

• 5 years’ experience in Monitoring and Surveillance technology solutions and tools with at least 2 years in a management capacity with relevant certifications as per below.

OR

• Grade 12 with 7 years’ experience in Monitoring and Surveillance technology solutions and tools with at least 2 years in a management capacity with relevant certifications as per below.
