Core Description

Oversees the BTE technology investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategy, budgets, and risk appetite. The role governs prioritisation, performance, and value realisation while enabling evidence-based decision making and supporting executive governance across technology initiatives.

 

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

  • Lead the development, maintenance and execution of the enterprise technology portfolio governance framework.
  • Govern the prioritisation, sequencing and financial approval of technology initiatives in collaboration with Finance, Commercial, Architecture, Risk and Business Units.
  • Oversee portfolio health reviews, performance dashboards, KPI tracking and reporting for Exco, the Group ICT Steering Committee and governance forums.
  • Ensure alignment of programmes and investments to BCX strategy, Run Grow Transform budgets, architecture standards and transformation objectives.
  • Drive cost optimisation, spend transparency and disciplined technology investment across the BTE portfolio.
  • Govern benefits realisation and ensure initiatives deliver measurable value and performance outcomes.
  • Lead the intake, evaluation and approval workflow for new technology demand, ensuring strong business cases and compliance with governance standards.
  • Provide oversight of cross functional delivery risks, interdependencies, vendor performance, contractual obligations and portfolio blockers while driving continuous improvement of governance processes and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

Three-year degree (NQF 7) in Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Finance, Strategy, or related field
Honour’s or postgraduate degree preferred

Additional Education -Preferred /Advantage

Additional governance, portfolio, strategy, or performance-related qualifications advantageous

Experience

  • Seven (7) to (9) years’ experience in technology portfolio management, IT governance, strategy execution, PMO leadership, performance management, or enterprise technology oversight.

 

  • Experience managing complex technology portfolios across infrastructure, applications, platforms, cloud, data, and transformation programmes.

 

 

  • Strong background in enterprise-level governance, financial planning, risk management, and executive reporting.

 

  • Experience working with architecture, operations, finance, commercial, and business units to drive prioritisation and alignment.

Certifications

Financial governance or enterprise architecture certifications add value
COBIT, ITIL, PMP, PgMP, or portfolio governance certifications advantageous
